CHIN FAT REDUCTION

Beauty Science has a range of non-surgical fat reducing treatments that can address the chin & jowl area.

One of the treatment involved using a mixture of phosphatidylcholine, which is derived from soybeans, and sodium deoxycholate, a bile salt that aids waste removal. Another option is using Radio Frequency which further assists with tightening the skin. The treatment dissolves the fat by separating the molecules down into tiny particles which are absorbed in the body’s natural drainage. A series of 3-6 treatments are recommended per area.

What to expect immediately after treatment

There will be redness, swelling or tenderness in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injections. The swelling is variable and in some cases may persist for up to 2 weeks. This is expected and is an indication that the treatment is working.

In addition to swelling, there may be areas of hardness, lumps and numbness to the treated area.

Bruising is a common and expected side effect with any injectable treatment. In order to reduce bruising, avoid any medications containing anti inflammatory ie nurofen, aspirin, vitamin E and ginseng for the week prior and the week following treatment, unless medically necessary and after discussion with your practitioner.

Anti-Inflammatories may be taken after the treatment to manage pain if necessary.

Bruising and also initial swelling can be managed with the application of cool compresses, topical Arnica or Hirudoid cream. We offer HEALITE II LED treatments for those cases where bruising is severe.

If you experience any difficulty swallowing, superficial skin ulcerations, facial muscle weakness or an asymmetrical smile please contact the clinic.

Immediate aftercare – What to do at home

Apply a cool compress to the treatment area (do not apply ice directly to the skin) for 10 minutes every half an hour on the day of treatment.

Avoid any heat inducing activities for 24 hours such as strenuous exercise, spas, saunas and hot showers.

Avoid pressure on the area for the first 48 hours (sleep on your back if possible, no face down massages).

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours (We prefer clients to abstain from alcohol for 7 days prior and 7 days post treatment for optimal results).

Avoid active cosmeceutical products (AHAs, retinols, vitamin C) and oil based makeup for 24 hours.

Avoid facials, waxing, and laser treatments for 2 weeks after treatment.

Do not massage the treatment area unless instructed to do so.

Treatment Follow-up

Treatment can take 4-6 weeks for results to become evident. After the initial treatment, there may be no visible results (this is why a treatment course is recommended). It is essential to attend your follow-up appointment.

Further treatments within 4-6 weeks of the initial treatment will be necessary to achieve optimal correction and results. Clients may require multiple treatment sessions to obtain their desired aesthetic outcome.

Leaving too long between treatments may impact the results.

Once optimal reduction in fat has been achieved following a course of treatments, the results are expected to be long lasting (studies have shown up to 5 years with no recurrence of fat). We cannot however guarantee the longevity of results.
