Is Rejuran Better Than Botox?
It's one of the most common questions we hear at our Richmond clinic, and it's a bit of a trick question. Asking whether Rejuran is better than Botox is a little like asking whether a moisturiser is better than sunscreen. They're both excellent, but they do genuinely different jobs. Once you understand what each one is designed to fix, the "which is better" question tends to answer itself.
They aren't the same treatment
The confusion is fair, because both are injectables used to help you look fresher and younger. Under the surface, though, they work in completely different ways.
Botox is a neuromodulator. It temporarily relaxes the specific facial muscles responsible for movement, which softens the lines those movements create. Rejuran is a skin booster made from polynucleotides, which are DNA fragments taken from wild salmon. Rather than relaxing muscles, it prompts your skin to repair and renew itself at a cellular level, improving quality from the inside out.
One relaxes. The other regenerates. That difference is the whole story.
What Botox does well
Botox is the standout choice for dynamic wrinkles, which are the lines that appear when you move your face. Think frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead lines, and crow's feet around the eyes.
Because it works by easing muscle contraction, results tend to show within a few days and last several months before a top-up is needed. If your main concern is expression lines that deepen when you smile or frown, this is the wrinkle reduction treatment built for that job.
What Rejuran does well
Rejuran plays a different game entirely. It targets skin quality rather than muscle movement, so it's the better fit if you're dealing with dullness, rough texture, loss of elasticity, enlarged pores, or the fine lines that come from ageing and sun damage.
By supporting collagen activity and your skin's natural repair process, Rejuran Healer improves the condition of the skin itself over time. The results build gradually and tend to look natural, which is exactly what a lot of our clients are after. In our experience, it suits people who want their skin to look healthier and more resilient, not just smoother in one spot.
So which one is actually better?
Neither, and that's the honest answer. The right treatment comes down to what's bothering you:
That last point is worth sitting with. Plenty of people assume it's a choice of one or the other, when the two can work beautifully together. Botox softens the lines caused by movement while Rejuran strengthens the skin underneath. It's an inside-and-outside approach, and for many clients it produces a more complete result than either treatment on its own.
What matters far more than the label is who is holding the needle and how well the plan fits your face. We've spent years tailoring treatment plans for Melbourne skin, and the same two treatments can produce very different outcomes depending on how they're used and combined.

How we help you decide
Rather than pushing one treatment over another, our Cosmetic Clinic in Richmond starts with a proper consultation and diagnostic skin scan. This allows our team to assess your skin type, concerns and goals, then determine whether Botox, Rejuran or a combination of treatments makes the most sense for you.
Everyone's skin, budget and comfort level is different, so a plan that suits your friend may not suit you. At our Richmond cosmetic clinic, we'd rather take the time to understand your needs and recommend an approach that feels right for you.
If you're weighing up Rejuran against Botox and aren't sure which way to go, book a consultation with our Richmond team and we'll help you find the option that best fits your skin and goals.
