About Anti-Wrinkle Injections
Anti-Wrinkle injections are an effective and non-surgical way to rejuvenate the face and reduce lines and wrinkles. The most common areas where facial wrinkles are clearly visible include the forehead lines, frown lines and around the eyes, known as Crows Feet Wrinkles.
In addition to wrinkles, anti-wrinkles injections can be used to lift the eyebrows, reduce or remove gummy smiles by lowering the upper lip, treat the mouth area from pulling down and reduce or remove neck wrinkles, or neck bands.
At Beauty Science, we use a specific injectable product that has no additives, just botulinum toxin type A – meaning it’s one of the purest on the market. This also means that there is less risk of developing antibodies. In theory, antibodies can prevent standard products from having its desired effect.
FAQ
Ageing effects on the skin
There are two distinct types of ageing which affect the skin. The first caused by our genetic imprint we inherit called intrinsic (internal) ageing which is a continuous process that begins in our mid 20’s and the second type is known as extrinsic which is caused from environmental factors and lifestyle. Most pre mature ageing is cause by UV damage, repetitive facial expressions, gravity, sleeping positions, alcohol/smoking/poor nutrition play a part, which lead to gradual loss of elasticity and volume, and contributes to the early onset of lines and wrinkles.

What is Botulinum Toxin?
Anti-wrinkle injections have been safely used to reduce wrinkles, and ease the tension of muscles for decades, and are well known by the brand names Botox® and Dysport® It works by temporarily weakening the contraction of the muscles where it is placed, therefore alleviating pain and tension associated with clenching and bruxism. It also reduces the creasing of the skin, thanks to calming the contractions of the muscles of facial expression.
The most common areas for treatment include:
- Forehead lines

When the protein is injected directly into the specific muscle, it blocks the nerve ending in hyperactive muscles and reduces the ability of the muscle to contract and pull the skin which causes lines and wrinkles.
Is it safe?
There is very little downtime but as with all injectable medicines have risks and benefits, as with all medications. Possible side effects include pain or stinging, bruising, swelling or redness at the injection site. Although rare, other possible complications include drooping eyelids, headaches, tingling or flu like symptoms.

The onset of improvement varies between individuals and also depends on the quantity used, the age of the client and the depth of wrinkle. Generally, the treatment effects can appear as early as a few days and can take up to 14 days to see full effect.
Is this suitable for me?
There are some medical conditions (including medications you may take) that may render you unsuitable for these injections; therefore, you will need to provide comprehensive information of your medical history during consultation.
